Committees
Join the CGHH movement to support our shared interest in hearing healthcare work and services that reaches low resource communities. As a committee member, you invest in the CGHH efforts to improve Advocacy, Education and Training, Family and Community Empowerment, Best Practices, and Technology in related areas of hearing health. By being a committee member of the Coalition for Global Hearing Health, you are not only adding your part of the unified voice, but also will become an integral working component that seeks to create and implement strategies that will allow the organization to fulfill its mission.
If you are interested in joining one of the steering committees, please contact the committee chair with your interest. The committee chair and CGHH board liaison will determine availability of a committee position and respond to your request.
Committee Purposes:
Advocacy:
Enhance awareness of hearing loss as a global health priority through dissemination of epidemiological data and information on the societal, educational, and economic impact of hearing loss. Explore and develop programs to enhance public relations for CGHH and hearing health services through traditional and social media. Promote programs for and equip healthcare professionals with strategies for hearing loss prevention. Advocate for governmental policy that supports hearing health including (but not limited to); providing direction to professionals, families, and individuals to existing policy and encouraging dialogue and consensus amongst and between professionals globally to achieve topical policy. Current priorities of the committee are supporting the WHO Office for the Prevention of Deafness and Hearing Loss and other related initiatives.

Education and Training:
Establish CGHH as a clearinghouse for promotion and dissemination of education and training opportunities for professionals, families, community representatives, and others interested in expanding their knowledge and understanding of hearing health and related areas. Examples of how this might be achieved: Create online forums for information sharing, Develop CGHH resource library, Promote advancements in global hearing health through online and social media tools, Setup webinars via the CGHH website, Establish relationships with academia and professional organizations to encourage their engagement in the CGHH Education and Training network.

Family and Community Empowerment:
Promote a family and community centered approach to hearing loss with social integration and awareness through effective services such as counseling, parent groups and community based habilitation programs. Some examples of how the CGHH might accomplish this goal; Create resource materials that equip and empower families with information regarding communication and habilitation options, Advocate by creating awareness of best practices with schools, communities, and medical providers, Explore ways of expanding CGHH membership among families and community representatives, Advocate and Equip through related tools and promotional materials, Develop relationships and collaboration with related organizations and societies, Create CGHH website content for families and community representative.

Best Practices:
Create best practice guidelines for the CGHH website. Advocate for the ethical use of guidelines and reasonable outcome measures for all aspects of hearing health including, but not limited to; Guidelines for humanitarian / outreach trips, Guidelines for medical providers, Guidelines for hearing health providers and technicians, Guidelines for family counseling and support, and Guidelines for education and habilitation services (including all communication options).

Technology:
Enhance hearing health using current technology and prepare for what’s next. Explore ways that the CGHH can promote the use of technology by raising awareness and defining reasonable goals and outcomes. Some examples of technology and programs; Affordable hearing aids, Alternative hearing aids, Assistive listening devices, Cochlear implants, Equipment donations, Field based testing, Purchasing consortium, Self-fit hearing aids, and Telehealth and Tele-audiology.

Committee Guidelines:
- Committee Chair and Committee Members serve a minimum two (2) year term
- The committee is comprised of a suggested size of 5-10 members (exact number at the chair and board liaison discretion)
- Committee Members, as ambassadors of CGHH, they will:
- promote collaboration across sectors of hearing health
- Submit to and encourage others to pay the annual membership fee
- Committee Chair has an expectation to facilitates committee meetings (both virtually and at the annual CGHH conference)
- Committee Members have an expectation to participate in committee meetings regularly, including virtual and/or in-person meeting at the annual CGHH conference
- Chair and Members assist with ensuring relevant and supportive information pertaining to their committee is included on the CGHH website
- Chair is invited to participate in periodic board discussions
- Chair maintains communication with the CGHH board
- Chair provides a brief midyear and annual report to the Board about committee activities
Committee Reports:
A brief written report submitted to the board twice a year (immediately following the annual conference and midyear) The report may include but not be limited to the following information:
- Name of chair and committee members;
- Current contact information;
- Summary of key committee activity including and not limited to:
- Defined committee goals, objectives, and timelines as set by the committee
- Positive results/progress by committee
- Propose activities or recommendations that CGHH Board of Directors would consider, including and not limited to conferences, website, online content, industry collaboration, and other programs
- Future vision of the committee that meets the needs of CGHH mission and purpose
