United States Travel Grants – Applications close 11 September

The Coalition for Global Hearing Health (CGHH) will award travel grants to 10 U.S.-based early-stage

investigators (ESIs) or students in eligible training programs. Each recipient may receive up to $2,200 in

reimbursement for eligible expenses to attend the CGHH Conference, 9-11 October 2026.

Eligible applicants

• Doctor of Audiology (AuD) students

• Otolaryngology residents

• Medical students

• Graduate students in Global Health programs

• Early-stage investigators (ESIs)

Early-stage investigator definition

For this grant, an ESI is a Program Director/Principal Investigator (PD/PI) who completed their terminal research degree

or post-graduate clinical training, whichever occurred later, within the past 10 years and has not previously competed

successfully as a PD/PI for a substantial NIH independent research award.

Funding restrictions and reimbursement requirements

Recipients must comply with the Fly America Act when booking air travel.

Air travel is limited to economy class.

Receipts are required for taxis, trains, airfare, and hotel accommodation.

Meal allowance: $100; receipts are not required.

Funds may not be used for visas, entertainment, or alcoholic beverages.

Recipients must submit the CGHH claim form within 30 days after the conference.

Reimbursement will be made after the conference only.

Recipients will be notified on 18 September 2026. Priority will be given to applicants who submit an abstract for a

poster presentation.

Students can attend the CGHH Conference and workshop for a highly subsidised rate of just USD 70, inclusive of:

Registration fees include morning and afternoon teas plus lunch while attending the pre-conference workshops and conference days.

The Global reception includes the entertainment and meal. Excludes refreshments.

Daycare: CGHH are investigating the need for daycare and service providers. Those members that have paid registration fee to send daycare requirements by e-mail to gd@e2.co.za no later than 28 August. Restrictions apply. 

Transport: CGHH are in discussion with transport providers with regards from main hotels to the venue and from the venue to the Global Reception. This will be included in the registration fees.
